Bird Walk
On Friday, October 18 at 9:00 a.m. Kenn will lead a bird walk at Deer Haven Park. This park is home to the Amy Clark-Bader Bird Sanctuary where the trails, bird feeders and nesting boxes attract many resident and migrating birds. We’ll meet in the Nature Center and enjoy complimentary coffee and donuts at 9:00 a.m. Books will not be for sale at this event and the walk will take place rain or shine. Walking sticks are available for those who might need them but please bring your own binoculars!
Registration for the bird walk is limited to 25 people. This Friends of the Library ticketed event costs $20 and requires a separate registration from the October 17 Author Visit.
Kenn leads birding tours all over the world and the Friends and Preservation Parks are thrilled to host him here in Central Ohio!
Meet at Deer Haven Park at 9:00 a.m. for a tranquil walk along the trails, guided by Kenn Kaufman. Ticketed event. $20. Registration is limited to 25 participants.
Bio
Now a legend among naturalists, Kenn Kaufman burst onto the birding scene as a teenager in the 1970s, hitch-hiking all over North America in pursuit of birds—an adventure later chronicled in his cult-classic book Kingbird Highway. After several years as a leader of birding tours worldwide, he transitioned to a career as a writer, editor, and illustrator. Most of his energy currently goes into book projects and painting bird portraits. His 14 books include his latest, The Birds That Audubon Missed, published in May 2024. Kenn is a field editor for the National Audubon Society, a Fellow of the American Ornithological Society, and the only person to have received the American Birding Association’s Lifetime Achievement award twice.
