The Friends of the Library will present a recap of the past year, a sneak peek at future plans, and welcome guests to discuss the Ohio Literary Trail. Registration recommended for planning purposes.

Whether you have officially joined the Friends of the Library as a member or not, join us at the Liberty Library to learn more about The Ohio Literary Trail. The presentation will follow a brief annual meeting and election of officers for the Friends of the Delaware County District Library. Enjoy a "chilly" evening with some homemade chili and a chili bar! Please RSVP to help with planning.

This vibrant journey celebrates Ohio’s incredible impact on global culture and literature. Dive into a treasure trove of landmark destinations, explore fascinating historical markers that honor literary legends, and join the lively book festivals that bring readers and writers together in a whirlwind of creativity. Ohio’s literary landscape is waiting for you—let the exploration begin! 

The Ohioana Library is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and celebrating Ohio literature. Events including the annual Ohioana Book Festival and Ohio Book Awards are designed to share information about and celebrate the works of writers and illustrators in Ohio.

Kimberlee Kiehl, Executive Director, Ohioana

Dr. Kimberlee Kiehl joined Ohioana in May 2024. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State University, an M.S. in Special Education from the College of St. Rose, and a B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Kim was an Associate Professor in the College of Human Ecology at The Ohio State University, serving as Associate Dean for Academic Programs and an Extension faculty. She joined the nonprofit world in 2000 and served two tenures at the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), one as Chief Strategy and Operations Officer (2000-2012) and returning later as Senior Vice President for Experience and Operations in 2018. Following her first term at COSI, she served as the Executive Director of the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center, and in 2016 she returned to Ohio to assume the position of Director of the Museum of Ohio Project at the Ohio History Connection where she was responsible for the planning of the Ohio: Champion of Sports exhibition. Most recently Kim served as Associate Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Kim was born on Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. She comes to the Ohioana Executive Director position with a lifelong love of books, and a passion for story, memory keeping, and historical collections.

David Weaver, Past Executive Director, Ohioana

Before joining Ohioana in 2005, Weaver worked in development positions for the Columbus Symphony, the Breathing Association and WOSU Public Media. He was co-founder and former director of Columbus Light Opera and is the author of Black Diva of the Thirties, a biography of Ohio State University graduate and opera singer Ruby Elzy.
