Celebrate America 250 during First Friday by exploring interactive, hands-on STEAM experiments and creative activities inspired by the discoveries and innovations of American inventors.
Explore downtown Delaware as you visit multiple engaging stations featuring STEAM-based activities, interactive experiments, and creative challenges. This exciting evening is perfect for families, aspiring investigators, and curious minds who want to experience STEAM in action—while celebrating 250 years of American ingenuity.
All activities will take place in downtown Delaware along Sandusky Street during Main Street Delaware First Friday on Friday, May 1, from 6:00–9:00 p.m.
Participation is free, and no registration is required.
Presented by the Delaware County District Library, Main Street Delaware, Delaware Area Career Center, and the Friends of the Delaware County District Library as part of the 2026 COSI Science Festival.
As Delaware’s Community STEAM Event for the COSI Science Festival, the Library will also distribute COSI Learning Lunchboxes to the first 400 children at the Bookmobile that evening. Lunchboxes are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and children must be present with an adult to receive one.


Unfamiliar with "STEAM?" STEAM is an educational approach that incorporates the arts into the more-familiar STEM model, which includes science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEAM programs can also include any of the visual or performing arts, such as dance, design, painting, photography and writing.
