Create Edible Soil by making food with layers like the Earth! Join us at the Orange Branch, where we will be using a fun STEAM recipe. For ages 9-12. Supplies provided.
Dig deep for some edible, dirt-loving fun! Children will enjoy this delicious activity that incorporates food with layers to promote learning. It demonstrates the different soil layers and encourages discussion on the soil's vital role in sustaining plant and animal life on our planet.
Ingredients we will be using:
Chocolate and butterscotch chips mixed
Chocolate pudding
Whole Oreos, crushed Oreos
Shredded coconut mixed with green food coloring
Gummy worms
Unfamiliar with "STEAM?" STEAM is an educational approach that incorporates the arts into the more-familiar STEM model, which includes science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEAM programs can also include any of the visual or performing arts, such as dance, design, painting, photography and writing.

The Orange Branch Library is located in Orange Township just north of the township's fire station, park and pool. At 33,000 square feet, this branch has a drive-up book drop and drive through pick-up window, along with many other special sustainable building features. The building also houses our Outreach Services Department and the Imagination Garden.
