Over three courses, kids learn how to tie a knot, thread a needle, and sew some beginning stitches. Ages 7-12. Registration required. All materials provided.

As this program will build upon the skills learned at each session, when you register for the program, you'll automatically be signed up for each program in the series! Let a staff member know if there is one you can't make it to and we'll adjust your reservation.

Did your favorite sweater lose a button recently? Do you have an AWESOME patch for a denim jacket but no clue how to sew it on? Don't buy something new- fix what you've got!

Kids and tweens are invited to join our friendly, crafty librarian for a set of hands-on sewing lessons focused around the art of clothing mending.

Over three one-hour classes, kids will learn how to...

Thread a needle

Attach a button

Experiment with a few basic stitches

Apply a fabric patch for fashion or function!

Participants are encouraged to attend all three classes, as each lesson builds on the previous one. Kids who come to all three sessions will leave with their very own handmade needle book!

Participants must be able to follow verbal and written instructions. The program's intended age range is 7-12 years old and requires that participants are able to safely follow instructions when using their sewing needle. While no prior sewing knowledge is required, participants should know how to tie a simple overhand knot before entering the program.

All materials provided.
