Margaret Peterson Haddix, bestselling children's author and educational presenter, will guide children in the development of their own published book. Ages 8-12.

New York Times bestselling author Margaret Peterson Haddix will present an interactive writing workshop for children ages 8-12 at the Delaware County District Library: Liberty Branch on Saturday, September 19.

This ticketed event will take place from 1pm to 4pm. To allow time for more personalized feedback from the author for each child, enrollment in the workshop will be capped at 25 attendees.

During the session, Haddix will lead the young writers in discussions and exercises related to plot, character, and setting, as well as helping them brainstorm about stories they want to create. Part of the time will also be dedicated to at least beginning to write those stories. Bound (blank) books will be provided for the young writers to use.

Along with the workshop, Haddix will talk about her own journey to becoming the author of more than 50 traditionally published books for kids and teens. Her works include the Shadow Children series, the Missing series, the Greystone Secret series, and many stand-alones. Her books have won multiple state readers’ choice awards and the Edgar Award for Juvenile Mysteries and have been translated into more than 20 languages. Some of her books will be available for purchase from Beanbag Books, and Haddix will be available to sign books for readers during her time at the library.
