Have more questions?  Check out our FAQ below, or ask one of our staff members for help.

What is the plant swap? The plant swap is a passive program where anyone can bring in native plants or house plants to exchange for others. It runs from September 20 to October 4.

Do I have to bring plants to swap them? Everyone is welcome to take plants and anyone can drop them off as well without picking any up.

What plants can I bring? Any Native Ohio (or surrounding states) plants. Absolutely no invasive or non-native species, please! The only exception to this is for indoor house plants which can go on a table inside the library.

How can I tell if my plants are native? Please refer to the following websites and/or apps. Staff do not have any of these items on their personal devices, but feel free to download to your own.

Where is the plant swap? It is at the Liberty Branch. All plants are located in the outdoor atrium in the center of the building and can be placed on the appropriately labeled tables.

Do plants need to be labeled? Yes, all plants must be labeled with at least the common name of the plant, but if the scientific name is known, please include that as well as any other relevant information!

Can I bring larger-sized plants? Yes, as long as you can carry or move it yourself, you can bring it to the Library. You are responsible for moving plants and pots on your own, but feel free to ask for a cart.

How many plants can I take? Anyone can bring or take as many plants as they would like, but please be sure everyone can participate.

What will you do with the plants that are left? Plants that are not taken will be composted unless previously discussed. The dirt will then be used next year for growing new plants.

What about pots? The library still has pots from last year, so donations aren’t needed at this time.
